Executive Summary

A premier graduate business school in Southeast Asia needed a secure, resilient digital platform to support its growing professional development programs. The school's existing vendor-managed IT environment raised concerns over security, resiliency, and governance.

Partnering with Galactic Network, the institution migrated to a new AWS environment supported by 24x7 Cloud Management & Optimization Services (CMOS), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and AWS Backup. The deployment delivered 99.5% uptime, strengthened data security, and enabled reliable collection of student registrations — ensuring a seamless experience for both administrators and participants.

About the Company

The institution is a globally recognised graduate business school, accredited among the world's top 6% through AACSB, offering MBA, EMBA, and specialised master's programs alongside professional development courses for executives across Asia and beyond. It combines academic rigour with deep regional insights, providing students with a transformative learning experience that blends global best practices and local relevance.

With a mission to develop principled and transformative leaders, the school continually invests in technology to enhance learning outcomes and operational resilience.

The Challenge

The school's academic workloads were hosted in a vendor-managed environment that presented growing security gaps and lacked the resiliency required for mission-critical operations. With the launch of its new digital learning platform, the school needed a hosting environment capable of securely collecting sensitive student information, including course enrolment and payment transactions, while ensuring uninterrupted availability.

Beyond compliance, the platform also had to safeguard student data with reliable backup and recovery processes. Adding to the complexity, the marketing team required frequent content updates, sometimes multiple times daily, causing infrastructure utilisation peaks that threatened system stability and risked costly hardware scaling.

The Solution

Galactic Network migrated the institution's digital learning platform from the vendor-managed environment onto a secure AWS architecture. The platform was rebuilt on Amazon RDS, replacing the previous self-managed setup with a fully managed and highly reliable service. This transition significantly reduced operational overhead while providing a secure platform to capture and manage student registrations.

To strengthen data protection and compliance, AWS Backup was implemented with automated daily snapshots. AWS WAF was deployed to protect payment endpoints from malicious attacks, while governance controls and AWS best-practice security configurations closed vulnerabilities that had existed in the vendor-managed environment. Comprehensive monitoring through Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS), and Amazon EventBridge enabled proactive alerting and automated incident response.

Galactic Network's CMOS team provided round-the-clock monitoring and proactive support, working closely with the client's development team to optimise infrastructure utilisation during content update peaks, avoiding premature and costly hardware upgrades. With uptime consistently maintained at 99.5%, the institution now operates on a resilient and secure platform designed to meet both academic and operational demands.

Results

The migration empowered the institution to deliver a modern, secure digital experience for its program participants. The AWS environment consistently achieved 99.5% uptime, ensuring uninterrupted access for students and faculty. Security hardening and proactive monitoring significantly reduced vulnerabilities, giving administrators greater confidence in the protection of sensitive student data.

The deployment of AWS Backup eliminated risks of data loss, while CMOS-driven optimization during infrastructure peaks avoided premature scaling, delivering both operational stability and cost savings. Automated incident response through Amazon EventBridge and Galactic Network's ticketing system further streamlined operations.

With a robust infrastructure in place, the institution not only improved operational resiliency but also reinforced its reputation as a world-class institution blending global excellence with regional leadership.
